Experiencing a Sustainable Mobility of the Future

Using electric mobility within carsharing at Freiburg is now possible thanks to a mutual project by Initiative Zukunftsmobilität (ZuMo), Stadtmobil Südbaden AG and Naturenergie. ZuMo is a consultancy network which aims at the development and realization of  innovative mobility projects with a focus on electric mobility.

ZuMo Freiburg wants to introduce Freiburg companies, citizens as well as guests to electric mobility. 

Early September 2012, on the occasion of the Baden fair, a Mitsubishi iMiEV took up its duty at the Stadtmobil Südbaden location Emmy-Nöther-Straße / Solar-Info-Center in Freiburg. The compact electric vehicle has a range of round about 150 kilometers (240 miles) given a fully charged battery and modest driving. The scooter can be charged at any household power socket. In the south of Baden this is the first carsharing offering that includes electric vehicles.  

The charging current for the electric vehicle consits of 100 per cent water power which is provided by NaturEnergie AG in Grenzach-Whylen. For further information please see e-mobility-projects.

An Easy Explanation of How to Share a Car

Living in a city that offers carsharing means that you yourself don't necessarily have to take the hazzle and costs of car ownership. With carsharing you can use a car when you need it, but you don't have to pay for it, when it only sits on your driveway or in an expensive garage or parking lot. As customer of Stadtmobil Südbaden AG you have access to to a whole car fleet with 30 different types of vehicles around the clock seven days a week.

How carsharing actually works you can see in the above YouTube film which has been produced by the European project momo in which 14 partners from eight European countries participated (the project terminated in the fall of 2011). The abbreviation momo stands for more options for energy efficient mobility through Car-Sharing. It's been momo's aim to reduce car traffic and its environmental impact such as particulate pollution and resource consumption by promoting a modern and sustainable mobility that combines individual car traffic with public transport and bike mobility — especially in cities.
